Mixing Prints

Mixing Prints can be difficult and overwhelming for some. However, the end result if done right has the potential to translate into a wonderful work of art, and add an  extra "wow" factor to any outfit.
For today's outfit I decided to salute the last few weeks of summer with a vibrant play on prints.

I paired a mustard colored polka dot top from J Crew (old), with a fun patterned teal and navy blue Anansi bag.
The two distinct prints perfectly complement each other because 1) both the bag and the top had the mustard color in common 2) The pattern of the top was very basic compared to the bag. Therefore, they complemented each other rather than competed with each other.
When mixing prints sometimes the easiest thing to do is find a commonality amongst the prints and play on that. If you need more tips and tricks feel free to read this previous post on How to wear patterns and prints
