Denim Jacket & Sequin Skirt

Denim Jacket, Sequin Skirt
Today's outfit is a causal look with a kick. Ever thought to pair a causal denim jacket with a glamorous sequin skirt? Well now you can!
The look is perfect for an afternoon lunch on some gorgeous patio or strolling through exhibits at your local museum. The denim jacket and sequin skirt combo was created in an effort to wear this Express skirt more. The best part is the skirt can easily be utilized for a night time look.

The Yellow Blazer

Zara Yellow blazer
I never thought in a million years that I would invest in a yellow blazer. When I first saw it, I thought "it's pretty" but I will never wear it. Fast forward almost a year later, and it's still an item in my closet that I love. Injecting a bit of color into your wardrobe is never a bad thing.
This yellow blazer was also worn in this post, here
I paired the blazer with a leopard shirt and white pants.

I encourage you all to take risks with your wardrobe. Try something that's a bit outside of your comfort zone, however make sure your still comfortable in it.

P.S I hope everyone is enjoying their summer!

Is there something that you would love to add to your closet, but too nervous to try?

Until Next Time,
Sincerely Miss J

TST: Denim on Denim saluting the 90s

My love for the 90's will never die. Athough I was not old enough to remember every single detail, I do know that I loved the variety of wholesome family sitcoms such as The Fresh Prince of Bel-air, Family Matters, and Full House. I learned many valuable life lessons that were reinforced by these shows; always share, always tell the truth, and your family always has your back! The 90's also brought amazing r&b and rap music, along with great rock bands that I still jam to even now. It also brought some pretty iconic dance moves and some hip fashion! This week's Thrift Style Thursday is nineties nostalgia and the first thing that came to mind was denim. Denim was huge in the nineties, from jean jackets, vests, mommy jeans, and overalls. With the warmer weather finally coming around, I decided to do the denim on denim look with my DIY boyfriend jean shorts and my favorite chambray shirt.  I love the masculine feel of this outfit and how comfortable boyfriend jeans are compared to daisy dukes.

Neon Citrus: bright colored pants to brighten a foggy day

bright colored pants

So, whose bright idea was it to shoot an outfit post in the middle of thick fog? I'll raise my hand to that. Unfortunately, Mother Nature has not been cooperating with me so I figured if you can't beat them, join them. I have been trying my best to find that hint of sunlight, but as you can see it's a no go! Although, it's probably the worst and most difficult weather to shoot anything in, there was something about the fog and dullness of the background that to me really brought out the brightness of the pants. Lately, I have been really letting my hair down and gravitating to bright things, and have come to realize that it’s a huge mood changer for me. When I wear something bright and vibrant I just hear Pharrell's 'Happy' song in my head, and have the urge to dance or skip around regardless of what's happening around me, it really makes any day go by faster when your in a pleasant mood.
Today’s Thrift Thursday theme is quirky and cute, which are probably the last words I would use to describe my personal style and my personality.Although I think quirky may describe my style a bit more than cute, it was still difficult to come up with a look. So this is what I thought quirky and cute was; bright colors, fun bold patterns, and a playful hair accessory to add that final touch of cute.

Hoped you enjoyed the post and that everyone’s enjoying their week, until next time
Sincerely Miss J

TST: A Dash of animal print

What a relief to be back on the blog and sharing a new post with you all! I had a amazing trip to Kentucky, even though I was sick most of the trip, boo!! The hospitality I received there was amazing and I will definitely be going back. I will say that the shopping there was, well, can I say "no comment" in terms of getting a good retail fix. However, there were a lot of Goodwill stores around so as an avid thrifter, no complaints here. I found this full skirt at one of the Goodwill stores down there and layered another tulle like skirt underneath it to add more fullness. I also had to get the skirt tailored to fit because the waist was too big. I would like to thank my awesome bestie for doing that for me, he did a great job! The small bag was another thrift find that I found at the same store.
Today's Thrift Thursday theme is animal print, and if you know me, you know my favorite animal print is leopard. Therefore, it was pretty easy to incorporate animal print into this outfit. Don't be afraid to play with prints and colour.
I hoped you enjoyed today's post!! I will be back very soon!!
What's your favorite animal print?

1 item, 3 ways to wear it: The Peplum Top

1 item, 3 ways to wear it : peplum Top

The word “versatility” means capable of many uses. Recently, I have been using this concept to guide me whenever I’m thinking of purchasing anything. Lately, I have been able  to resist buying impulsively, and ask myself everytime ; 1. "I'm I going to utilize this item a lot?" and 2. "Do I have something similar already?" Therefore, I thought it would be awesome to start a new segment, called 1 item, 3 ways to wear it. I’m hoping to do it on Mondays twice a month or monthly. The ability to full your closet with versatile pieces, ultimately allows you to stay stylish, creative and utilize your closet. Therefore, in the end saving you a lot of money. If you choose your pieces wisely, you don't need to buy more.

Today I’m featuring a peplum top courtesy of  Express Clothing . Peplum tops have been dominating the runways for multiple seasons and have found their way into the closets of many fashionistas' around the world. I love this one because it's a neutral colour (white & grey), and has a interesting floral pattern great for the spring and many seasons to come. However, it also has a hint of neon on it's zipper, making it fun too. I paired this peplum top with different looks consisting of pants only because it’s still very cold here in Toronto, but it can be paired with a pencil skirt, full skirt or shorts to make endless outfit combos!
See the three ways I styled this top below!
Look #1

This look is a fun one, hence why it's called play day. The weather that day was really warm and fit to show a little arm action .I partnered the top up with these pretty lilac pants to create a very causal and care free look. I added a belt to add some more interest.

Outfit #2

Pairing some distressed jeans, heels, and a bright blazer gives this outfit a mellow but more polished look than the first outfit. Great for a lunch date with friends or some weekend adventures.

 Outfit #3
All white trend, Peplum Top

This business/ corporate look plays on the all white spring trend. However, the grey and the pattern in the peplum top does a great job in adding some more texture and dimension to the look. I also added some red accents to add a pop of colour.

I really hope you liked this post, and that it gave you some styling ideas. Unfortunately, I currently have the flu, and I'm leaving town for not very long. However, I will try my best to check in as often as I can if I'm feeling better, but do stay connected on other social media platforms listed below. Be back very soon!

So, which outfit did you like the best? How do you style your peplum tops? What future items would you like to see styled in this segment?

Until Next Time,
Sincerely Miss J
