The Yellow Blazer

Zara Yellow blazer
I never thought in a million years that I would invest in a yellow blazer. When I first saw it, I thought "it's pretty" but I will never wear it. Fast forward almost a year later, and it's still an item in my closet that I love. Injecting a bit of color into your wardrobe is never a bad thing.
This yellow blazer was also worn in this post, here
I paired the blazer with a leopard shirt and white pants.

I encourage you all to take risks with your wardrobe. Try something that's a bit outside of your comfort zone, however make sure your still comfortable in it.

P.S I hope everyone is enjoying their summer!

Is there something that you would love to add to your closet, but too nervous to try?

Until Next Time,
Sincerely Miss J

8 Summer Wardrobe Essentials

Summer is in full swing and with warmer weather comes the luxuries of sunshine, BBQs, beaches, outdoor events and much more. The summer uniform should always be comfortable, stylish, protective, and easy to wear. Today we are talking about 8 summer wardrobe essentials . If you do not have any of these items already in your closet, don't worry! Sale season is here, which marks the perfect time to grab one or maybe two of these items. Here are 8 essential summer wardrobe pieces in additional to the most obvious, summer shades.

Line Knit Wear Maxi dress, Target Vest, Obey bathing suit, forever 21 straw hat, aldo sandals, Anansi raffia tote bag

1. A summer dress: Personally, I love maxi dresses that are easy to slip on and go!

2. Jean shorts: Whether you prefer the boyfriend style or daisy dukes, jean shorts are a great basic item.
Love these fun patterned OBEY shorts.

3 & 4. A bathing suit: A bathing suit is a must have when lounging on the beach or having fun in the water. A simple black one is great but why not try something fun! A two piece over a one piece suit also provides for more versatility by allowing you to mix and match the pieces.

5. A summer vest: Perfect for summer layering.

6. A tote handbag: Great for carrying beach essentials or for day events

7. Hats: Are a must have to help protect yourself from the sun, and also add interest to any outfit.

8. Sandals: A good pair of comfortable sandals is a great basic for showing off that perfect pedicure, while allowing your feet to breathe during the summer months.

The Perfect Kimono

Target Kimono, Colored Shorts, Summer, Natural Hair
The sun and the heat have been pretty intense lately. If your going to be venturing off outside in this part of the world you must be equipped to handle the heat, humidity, and the absence of an ocean breeze.  If I have to be outside for a long period of time my number one rule is to keep it loose, free, and comfortable. So, I decided to ditch my more structured assembles and go with something light, and free flowing  to enjoy some outdoor festivities.
Target Kimono, Colored Shorts, Summer, Natural Hair

This kimono was purchased at Target along with a summer vest, that I mentioned (here). When I first picked up the kimono, I was a bit  skeptical because I don't usually like the look of most them but I absolutely loved this one. The color, fabric, and pattern was perfect to dress up and down making it extremely versatile.

Today is also Thrift Style Thursday and the theme is bright/neon. This week I cheated by incorporating some bright pink shorts from the Gap.

I  also have been missing in action due to life, but also due to being uninspired to do anything except sleep. However, the creative juices are running again and I'm back in the full swing of things. I would also like to thank everyone for the support!!

Until Next time,
Sincerely Miss J

The Summer Vest

Women Summer vest

Layering in the summer can pose as a real challenge, especially when the weather can get really hot and humid very quickly. However, perfecting layering is also key to combating and preparing for the summer season’s temperature changes and transitioning from the heat to cooler temperatures. You know, those days in the summer with cooler nights or mornings. Or when heading inside only to be blasted with the cold air from too much air conditioning! For today’s outfit I chose to layer with a structured summer vest. A summer vest allows you to lightly layer, but still keep it summer appropriate.

Women Summer vest

I bought this vest from Target recently, when I was just making a quick stop to get a few things. I really should of avoided the clothing section but I could not fight the urge and walked right on in.  I found a couple of really cute pieces including the vest.

Today is also Thrift Style Thursday and the theme is floral so I brought back my watercolor floral shirt seen in this post (here). The yellow in the shirt went perfectly with the yellow linen shorts from H&M.

Hoped you enjoyed the post!

Revlon Colorstay Makeup

 Revlon Colorstay Makeup

Summer is here and with a new season marks a slight change in one's beauty routine. Today on the blog I'm talking beauty with Revlon ColorStay makeup.
Last month I had the opportunity to preview some new products being introduced to the Revlon ColorStay makeup collection. I had an opportunity to try everything from foundations to eye, nail and lip products. However, today I wanted to share and highlight two of my favorite products; Revlon ColorStay Moisture Stain, and Revlon ColorStay Gel Envy nail polish. The collection is currently being sold in many drugstores in both the US and in Canada and I highly encourage you all to head to your local drugstore and try them out.

Revlon ColorStay  Moisture Stain

Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain
From left to right: 020 Rio Rush, 015 Barcelona Nights, 005 Parisian Passion
At all times I must always have some kind of  lip color on my lips or else I feel completely naked. However, sometimes I like to deviant from bright, matte, and pigmented lipsticks to something light and glossy.
Revlon ColorStay has introduced a lip stain that is infused with Vitamin E and aloe to moisturize the lips without stickiness. The lip stain is available in 12 shades and are packaged in a light sleek rectangular tube.

What I like about the product:
1.      It’s pigmented enough to give some color to the lips
2.      It' s indeed moisturizing and leaves a beautiful glossy finish  without major stickiness even after an hour of wear
3.      I love the thickness of the application brush which makes applying the stain easy to apply
4.      I love the texture of this product, it has a slippery feel oppose to a thick sticky feel on my lips
5. Fair price point at $12.95 ( Canadian)

Revlon ColorStay Gel Envy Nail Polish

Available now in stores both in Canada and the US are Revlon ColorStay gel envy nail polishes. The collection comes in 30 vibrant shades and one top coat. It’s a two step system that consists of  a ColorStay gel envy nail color/base  and secondly a top coat.

Top to bottom: 640 Jokers Wild, 440 Wild Card, 410 Up the Ante

What I like about the product:
1.      I like the two step system (color/base coat & top coat) oppose to the three step system (base coat, color & top coat) which was very time consuming to apply
2.      The colors are very vibrant and depending on the color you use, you may only need one coat before applying the top coat
3.      The price is reasonable at $7.95 (Canadian)
4.     Provides a gel like finish at home

I hope you enjoyed my mini review, and if you want to see more Revlon ColorStay products or need more information please go to  http://www.revlon.ca

Have you tried any of the new Revlon ColorStay products? What do you think?

Until Next Time,
Sincerely Miss J
