A break from the polar vortex was all we needed in the Toronto area. All of us here are going  insane due to the the intense winter weather. Thankfully the weather has warmed up even if only for a short while. Although, I don’t often mind the cold, this year has been something else! It is a rare occurrence for me to wish to go outside, and I was getting a bit tired of wearing my plain black parka. So when the weather was somewhat mild and the sun was shining, I had a sudden motivation to get out and put on some lipstick. I chose to do leopard on leopard with a bit of black, and voilà, this simple but chic outfit was born. I've also been trying to challenge myself to shop my closet more often. I wore the same leopard jacket first introduced (here).

I can't wait for spring this year, and I'm really looking forward to rocking pastels, florals, and patterns! However, I guess in the meantime I'll just learn how to make the best of winter.

What do you guys think of the outfit? What spring trends are you excited about?

P.S.Thank you all so much for the comments and support! Stay tuned for bigger things to come!
Thank you to Clover D my little sister who is the brains behind the camera, thank you again!

Winter white & Colored Coat

Winter White, Colored coat

In the last few years winter in Toronto has been extremely mild. However, this year Mother Nature has reminded us what winter actually feels like here. It’s either bitter cold, enough to cause the city to issue an extreme weather alert or  a snow storm rolls into town like today. So, you can imagine when the weather is like this, the thought of getting dressed up in your best just seems painful.
So I have embraced the winter by taking advantage of it. Now a days I have gotten really lazy with doing anything, and would described my style as very easy going. Doing my hair! Why!, when I can throw on a hat . Why, keep it complex with the outfit when I'm just going to be covering it up with a coat. I'm keeping it really simple, comfortable and warm.Unfortunately, I have not been feeling well these last couple days and my apologies for the one picture. However, I thought I would show you how simple it is to stay warm, chic and effortless in the winter.

Until Next time,
Sincerelymiss J

Winter Maxi skirt and Mefie UK Collaboration

Hello all my lovely people
I'm back with another outfit post. I know, I have been gone since last thursday, but I have good news! I will be posting more often. Nothing, has really changed in my daily activities, however the blog has become more of a therapeutic stress relief. Without it, I don't get the short vacations that are well needed  from work and school.

Maxi Skirt

Today's thrift style challenge was maxi skirts. For those living in areas where it's currently cold, me included, your probably thinking, "so not appropriate for this weather". However, you will be surprised how much layers you can hide under your long skirt, and keep warm with. I brought this skirt some time ago and was drawn to it by its unconventional color combo. I decided to keep it simple and pair it with a black sweater, a leather jacket and a luxury leather clutch with a funky print.
The clutch is by Mefie UK , a company that began in 2012, as a lifestyle brand that focused on handbags and housewares using African prints and weaves.  The company’s vision is to create a brand that showcases the beauty of African crafts in a way that can be appreciated worldwide and to celebrate the individuals that make them.
I personally got to speak and meet with the designer who was visiting from London and was in awe with her fashion sense, vision, and the quality of her bags. I also liked that she was creating jobs in countries such as Madagascar and Ghana.
I have so many favourite bags and pillows that I saw on her site. I loved the netural color and how the print popped against the navy blue in this particular bag. I also loved that it was made of a soft leather that felt like butter. The clutch can be used during a day out or night out.

Faux Fur, Smart Set & Joseph Nogucci

Hello Everyone,
So glad to be able to step outside with heels again without the risk of slipping and maybe breaking an ankle. The weather has been really mild today, to the point that the snow is melting, hence the not so great scenery. However, no complaints here from me, I don't mind the slush as long as it stays warm! Today’s post is jammed packed with some of my favorite things; today is thrift style Thursday and this week’s theme is faux fur!! This fur vest was actually a cropped jacket that I transformed into a  vest.
Next, I was reintroduced to Smart Set (clothing brand) at the blogger's conference I attended a few weeks ago.  The brand has completely re-invented itself into a hip clothing company catering to stylish professional women.   When I walked into Smart Set there was colour, texture, patterns and prints, which is a huge change from the past. One of my favourite colours is oxblood,so when I saw this blazer and blouse I knew I had to have it, and paired it with these oxblood coloured jeans. FYI, the zippers on the back of the jeans do not zip all the way up, they stop a bit above the ankles.
Lastly, I paired everything with this necklace and bracelet set by Joseph Nogucci---a  local Toronto brand. The outfit required something more subtle, rather than a big statement necklace. I adore the anchor symbol and see it as a representation of being grounded, which then keeps you focused on your goals and mindful of your achievements.
What do you think of the outfit?

Hello Winter!!

Hello everyone,
The snow has definitely hit my part of the world, and it is determined to leave nothing uncovered. Although the snow leaves everything looking so magical, having the strength and patience to leave the house and battle with it, is already getting harder to do. However, when I do manage to leave my home, my main concern is making sure I'm bundled up and warm. I easily wear 3-4 layers of clothing or more. A good tip for winter dressing is investing in items that can be used to layer underneath your shirts, pants, and other clothing. Some good examples are thick tights or leggings that will help you keep warm and look less bulky. When putting this outfit together, I layered a faux fur vest on top of a cardigan to keep warm and to play with texture. I'm also wearing black leggings underneath my black pants. Hope you enjoy this laid back winter look, and I shall be back very soon.
What are your go to winter items?
