Monochromatic

Hello Everyone,
    The outfit post today showcases the monochromatic look using the oxblood colour trend. If you are a frequent visitor to my blog than you already know how much I love this colour, and these jeans by Guess.  What's also interesting about the outfit is the fact that  95% of it is thrifted. Yes, the grand total from top to bottom is less than $70. Now some people may say "Oh gosh $70, that's pricey". However, please keep in mind that this includes the hat, necklace, sweater, cardigan, jeans ( Guess jeans  not thrifted) and booties. So, who says you can't look on trend and chic on a major budget.

To break down the monochromatic look and keep me a bit warmer I opted for this greyish/black cardigan with black piping. When I saw it at the thrift store I fell in love with it. I also wore my black coat and a scarf when I actually left the house.

Winter Flowers

Hello everyone,

I hope all is well. I have been a bit under the weather and drained as of late, and I hope it does not show too much in this post. However, I wanted to share with  all of you another outfit of the day. 

Floral was a big trend from last spring, and I'm sure you all may remember these pants from h&m. Regardless, I still love them and they are the main focus for today's winter outfit.

 

For some people a patterned pant may be difficult to style, but here I decided to pull out one colour from the pants ( purple) and match the top. By doing this, it allows the pants to stay the focus and the outfit not to look too busy. I also decided to wear black, but play with texture. The coat has faux leather arms and tweed and the boots are suede.

I'm not a big jewelery wearer, but there was something about this necklace that I found so appealing. It's simple but very unique in it's own way.

All black everything, how I like it

Hello everyone, I am back so soon with another outfit post.

I will not say too much today but will  leave you with this quote that I think everyone should live by, and one I will continue to live by in 2013.

The Causal of Days

Hello Everyone I hope everyone is well,

Firstly,  I have instagram! So feel free to add me at smissj. I shall try to figure out how to add a
 bottom on the blog eventually to link the two.

 For the past 2 weeks, we have had some snow and very cold weather, so my outfits lately, have usually consisted of layering myself up. These pictures were taken before it was -20 degree Celsius.
 If you want to stay stylish and chic this winter, the best investments pieces are coats, hats, gloves, and scarves. Keep warm and still look great!As for this look, it's my causal errand look. I also have natural hair, and had my hair in single twists. I then threw on a beanie, which has become my life saver. Anyways, hope you all enjoy the look.

So what's under the jacket you ask? I know, that is very important too. Well it's a graphic sweatshirt, layered under a large bottom up shirt. So, until next time!!!

Tis a new year...

Hello Everyone,

Sorry for the absence but with the holidays, things have been a bit hectic. However, I am back with hope and determination that 2013 shall also be a good year. I also hope it shall be a great year for all of you as well. I have so many things I want to accomplish, but many barriers still stand in the way. However, with faith, motivation, and hard work most of the barriers can be knocked down. So, cheers to new beginnings. 

This is the first outfit post of the year and hopefully it inspires you. I had this plain black dress from Zara and I thought to myself how can I spice it up.?So I decided to make my own peplum belt out of some tribal print fabric and a thrifted brown belt. Unfortunately, the event that I was heading to was cancelled but I thought I would post it anyways.

Anyways, I am not sure why I was extra happy that day, maybe because I was fighting the cold, lol.

Blazer Obession

Hey Everyone,

Just here with a quick outfit post of the day, it is a causal look that I wore a few weeks ago. Everything is thrifted except for the winter jacket, bag and coloured jeans. I love this look because it's the perfect example of how you can mix more expensive things with less expensive things. The ultimate steal was the boots that I scored for $9.00, pretty much brand new in the summer. The irony is, I have seen many similar ones selling for $125 or over.

 I also love blazers and secretly collect them. I think I may have one in every colour, lol. However, I find myself never wearing them until now, this week I went through at least 3 of them and now I think I'm fixed. Blazers are great layering options for the winter time.
